Iron turns grass green

I have been asked before what is the best way to green up a lawn and the answer is Iron. Select a good 4% Iron product, apply it and watch your grass green up before your eyes. (well almost) ... << MORE >>

Slice and Seed Time

Well its that time again, time to get your lawn ready for the season and of course one of the best things you can do for the health and look of your lawn is to slice and seed it. Please make sure to use a Company that knows what they are doing and you will have beautiful plush grass in no time.

Grubs, Moles and Brown Spots on Lawn

I can think of several issues or problems that can cause grass to turn brown, but what i would like to speak about today is Grubs. Grubs wreak havoc on a lawn very quickly and I am seeing this problem more and more in the area. Just in case this is not enough to drive you crazy, once you have grubs, you will most likely get Moles and then you have brown spots and your lawn looks like a minefield. If you already have a mole problem, then you are likely to have grubs and the first thing ... << MORE >>

Gearing up for Spring!!

Thank you for the positive feedback. We have been busy with gutters, leaves, foreclosure rehabs, winter fertilizer etc.  Now it is time to get back to regular lawn care and my equipment is at Nixa Hardware getting ready now! LOL Remember if you did not keep up on your leaves, now is the time to do one large cleanup before Spring, but as we have discussed before its best to mulch them, so prepare for that next year. Earthworks customers, you are so spoiled! LOL I want to extend a thank you to all our customers who have ... << MORE >>

When your grass turns brown, water it!

It would seem to me that most people would know this, but we have so many customers that are having this problem due to the lack of rain in the area that I sent out a e-mail to many of them letting them know to hook up a sprinkler or I would come by and do it for them and to my amazement I got several answers back thanking me but also saying that they didn't know why the grass was "losing its color" LOL. So, if you have this problem, just water your lawn.

Help with Weeds!

I have noticed an increase in weeds this year around the area. Our beloved "Dandies" being the worst culprit. I received a call last night from someone who likes taking care of their on lawn for exercise asking whether I would come to their home and spray and if I had any advice for a bad weed problem. I then ask how high this person has the mower set and the man answered one inch. One of the best and easiest things this person or any of you out there can do to control weeds is raise your ... << MORE >>

Tips for those left over leaves.

My Company still receives calls at the start of every season from potential customers asking whether we can come out and cleanup the left over leaves from Winter. As our customers already know we inform them that we can perform this service for them if they insist, but it is far better to mulch them very fine so the nutrients seep back into the soil. This is very good for the grass, so I just want to get the word out, that unless you just can't live without having every last trace of leaves taken away, ask your lawn service to use a good quality mulch kit and your lawn will thank you for it. I want to make clear that leaf cleanup in the "Fall" is a whole different ballgame because of the amount of leaves involved and a large cleanup is important. However, if you are just dealing with a sparse amount leftover from Winter, take advantage of the benefits these offer your lawn.

Natural versus Chemical Treatments?

I often get asked, " are their natural lawn treatments available" and the resounding answer is yes! The problem as I see it is that companies are stuck in the past and will not offer customers an alternative even if they happen to offer one. My advice is to ask your lawn care provider if they have a natural alternative and if they do not then find another lawn service.
